no it doesn't fit. it is a 2.2L engine and that engine will require custom mounts and axles for fit into the narower protege.

the Probe GT has the 2.2L F2 engine and no it will not fit without custom mounting or _CUSTOM_ axles

since it really hasnt been done you'll need to start with a test fit and take measurements of what length you need the axles, and where the motor mounts will fit, then you can have a shop make the axles for you. You'll also need an ecu and harness from an F2T, unless you use haltech. Also believe you'll need a custom hood since the F2T is a quite a bit taller than any protege engine.also what tranny are you using? The Ft2 uses a Mazda H series tranny to handle all the torque this engine produces(190 lb-ft stock!!). you are really better off using a BPT since you can use off-the-shelf parts so its a bit cheaper

yes it has been done. i tried and ran out of funds. you will need a very custom engine mount, and custom crosmember, this off sets the centreline of the spider gear. changing the lengthes of the axles. and even they you still have to cut into the wheel well to get it to fit.

and besides why would you want the f2t? it is the only interfearacne engine mazda made. 145hp wooo wooo and a big money pit.

honestly you are much better off with a KL V6 swap or a BPT.

somewhat easy to install. i believe they came in the J-spec MX-6 and the USDM Probe GT (i think). from what i have seen, yes they are easily modded.
