If I turbo'd a BP, which I'm probably going to do, I would be going with a T3 turbo. I'm trying to estimate how much this whole project is going to cost me if I use the BP.

The only trouble you'll have is finding a manifold for the T3. As far as I know, Braden doesn't make them anymore. Making a custom one will be pretty expensive. I am looking into this myslef so if anyone has additional info on the T3 setup for the Pro, I'd be glad to look it over

I thought braden made a bunch of bp turbo manifolds and all you had to do was tell him when you order, what turbo you're running so he can weld on the proper flange.

On his website it says that the all the manifolds for the 1.8 DOHC are "out of stock". I don't know if, and when, he'll have more.

from what i have seen, the BPT motor can be taken to 400+hp with the right setup. whereas the BP, needs heavy modification even to reach 350hp.

ive done a bit of reading on the BPT and thats why i went with it.

Oh my god the bp has a less restrictive head lets all buy that.. EVEN though it will have double or triple the milesand prob runs worse . u will have to track down a vj-20 turbo and manifold injectors .. In the end ur gonna spend the same amount of money for a motor with more miles wtf dont u understand maybe we dont want a bp motor with 100k in are cars. As for the bp motor being strong they have problems my **** has 95k and it has a fucked up lifter and burns oil wtf are u trying to prove u trying to prove to forget the gtx motor and buy a bp motor because omg it has a better head and it can be done woohoo. and 100k is minimal most people on here have like 150-200k on them so if ur gonna swap ur better off just getting a BPT motor its not that hard to understand. U remind me of the asses in the foodmart lines that buy a 6 inch grinder for 4.50 when u can get a 12 inch for 5 bucks .....JON

I would rather turbo my car then go through all the trouble of swaping motors. I do have only 100k on the motor though. Jon, you are forgeting that a swap could be very costly and is probably not worth the 50k difference in mileage. Most people would not be satisfied with the stock vj-20 of the BPT. If you swap motors and then go about upgrading the turbo it'll become a really expensive project. I'd rather turbo a BP with the turbo of my choice. Now if your motor has over 200k and you don't know how much it has been abused for that mileage, it'll probably be a better idea to do the swap.

Well im talking about doing the install myself . So install money is not a problem. the restricted gtx head won't matter much when ur only looking for 200 hp. so if ur looking for 200 hp and think a bp motor is so much better for the job then ask around. Either way your gonna do alot of work installing the manifold downpipe clutch and so on. So swapping the motor shouldnt be that much more of a deal. Now if u have a Bp motor running good that uve had for along time by all means turbo charge it but if u dont have a DOHC motor in ur car dont go looking for a used one to buy a turbo and manifold for when ur better off just buying a gtx motor with all the goodies u need. Now back to the subject if i had a 323 to get to 200 hp i would look into the B6t and try to buy that i know they can reach 200 hp with ease and is prob a easier swap ...Jon

As for Turbocharging a bp i know bruce was looking for a bp to use in his protege (95-98 model) because the bpt couldn't be used as easy in his year. and he got prices for 450-500 for the motor. Now ur gonna want it turbo charged so u need to buy a turbo and manifold (Vj-20 manifold) another 500 dollars gotta find some GTX injectors another 150 dollars. So good job u just payed 1100 dollars for the same thing as a BPT except its weaker, Cost more and has more miles. But u got ur money because it has a better head that doesnt even matter when ur looking for 200 hp.. GoodJob ...Jon

What about 200 whp. i dont think the injectors will handle that. i dont think its that big or a difference with the lx head when ur looking 200 hp whats it give u the same hp with 1 or 2 psi less is that worth more money and a motor with more miles? or if they really want they can go find a lx head from a scrap yard for 100 bucks and be even better for 50 bucks less than ur setup. Im not getting in ur social life i think u need *** so ur smart *** comments will stop. Jon

well Jesse i see ur point. And i see my point . The conclusion is if u have over 100k and wanna turbo do a bpt engine swap. If u have under100k with a good running bp motor follow jesse. I believe in doing it right the first time so it wont have to be done later in life. Good night ..Jon
