auto tranny prob

recently... i have no drive in any of the drive gears.. or reverse.. it happens when i just start the car in very cold weather..... id b reving in D, n the hold light starts blinking....after a while when the car is completely warmed up.. everything is fine and no hold light either... so wats up? fluid level? time to change the fluid/filter?

also.. there is some tranny noise coming to.. like a faint noise... is there ne noise associated too when the tranny is low on fluid?

definitely check your fluid. it sounds like it's broken down.

tranny fluid should be have a hint of red. if yours is coming out brown, it's definitely time to change it out. change the filter while you're at it. my recommendation is just to do a simple tranny refill (empty out the tranny fluid pan, then refill the approximately 3 quarts that come out) once a year and change the filter every two years.

I would say its gone because if you hear noises out of it and its not going anywhere its basically dead, which in my case was a CV shaft...may be your problem so i just rememberd that so forget about my saying dead tranny and check CV shafts...that was my prob..
