Battery constantly dying -- HELP!
Ok guys, figure this one out for me:
The batter on my 1992 Pro DX keeps dying. I've been messing with it over the last month, and I Took it into a shop 3 times and it's still not working properly.
This weekend we replaced everything that hadn't already been replaced. Here's what happend so far:
replaced starter...worked for a few days, then started dying again.
replaced battery...same thing, so we got tired of working on it and took it to a shop. They tested it and said the alternator is bad.
replace alternator, same problem. Took it back to the same shop and demanded free service. They tested again and said the new alternator was bad. We took it out and had it tested at Advanced Auto for testing and it WAS bad. We bought a new alternator, but tested it befor installing it and the second new one was also bad, so we took it back and bought one from AutoZone that tested good.
replaced the second alternator...same problem. Take the car back to the shop, they say it was a "Bad fuse". My car gets broken into while it's there...but at least they fixed it
after the third time at the shop it worked again for 2 weeks. Now all of a sudden it's not charging again. So..we spent the weekend replacing EVERY electrical component on the car. We replaced the rotor, distributor cap, ignition module, spark wires, & spark plugs. While we were at it we even re-timed my ignition. I drove the car around for a while and it worked fine...untill turning it off. Then trying to turn it back on...not enough power to start the engine.
Any ideas?

I was haveing the same problem a while back i replaced alternator 4-5 times in 2 weeks, it turns out my amplifier was jacked. The remote was messed up on the amp, so it stayed on all the time. Maybe that'll help? Do you have any stereo stuff hooked up? Or like a TV or anything.

Yes I do, and come to think of it it was working when my CD Player was off.

Put and ohm meter on amps and put it inline with the positive battery cable and see how many amps it is drawing. Start disconnecting stuff until the draw is gone. It should be done with the key out of the ignition. Something is drawing power this is the best way to find it. Hope it helps.
