BPT installation, harness question

Can I use the same harness from a 90-94 Protege GT or LX or Escort GT to run a BPT engine?

I can get the BPT ECU so will the BP DOHC harness work.

Yeah, you can get away with the DOHC ECU harness. There will be like one or two sensors that won't be connected (like VICS), so you might get an error code from the computer.

EDIT: eh. I guess I wasn't thinking when I posted. You have the BPT ECU, so you won't have to worry about any error codes.

Which harness is best to use with the BPT engine is the BP SOHC harness better suited or should I get the BP DOHC harness?

With the BPT engine I'm getting also the ECU.

Im not doubting you guys here, but if you can use just a DOHC harness with the BPT ECU then why does everyone spend countless hours installing the BPT wiring harness? Seems too good to be true IMO.

I know I posed the same question and got various responses, check here in this thread

I'm not saying Bryan is wrong or right, and I haven't done my swap yet, but if I knew for a fact that I could use my LX harness without having to rewire several components and add wire for others, I'd do it in a heartbeat ...

If you can get your hand on a gt automatic harness it's going to be one wire easyer. There a couple of wire you need to change place on the ecu connection. For any information about which wire you have to move go here http://www.323gtx.co.uk/phpBB2/viewt...b1b7952f13cd1a You have all the shop manual information about the ecu are in there somewhere. Good night going throught it.

It's not so easy to come accross where i live, so i decided to go with the n/a ecu with piggy-bag for this year and next year go with a stand-alone but for now the n/a ecu does a really good job took time but it was worth it. The major difference between the two harness is that the gtx use a four wire tps like the auto bp here as the bp manual use a three wire tps
