GTR ?, probably been answered before
What are the exact differences between the GTX and the GTR?
I know that the GTX make roughly 180 and the GTR makes around 210. What is it exactly that makes the difference? I know GTR engines are hard to find, but what exactly makes them better?
I also heard that they were a bit larger somewhere, although they should still fit.
I did a search but and I found the GTX vs GTR thread but it didnt answer my question. Just wondering if anyone knew.

8-12% increase from the extra turbo size... VJ-23
GTR has better valvetrain and a stronger block than the GTX as well as better engineering into the manifolds. stronger rods too.
Cams are slightly different as well

What are the code numbers on the GTR cams ?
How about the valves ? What if i bend one .... can i just put BP-05 vales in it ( or are the valve seats ment only for the GTR )
Can i take a BP-05 head and swap in the GTR cams and valves ?

Don't have the code numbers for the cams.
I think the intake valves are the same, but the GTR uses sodium filled exhaust valves so good luck replacing those.
Yes, the BP-05 head will swap on and the internals can be switched over.

and does anyone know why the ports on the Turbo blocks are soooooo gehey ? what is the deal with the lip/bump covering up the port ?

I am from Australia and own a 4wd BPT powered Ford Laser which was released from the factory. Its basically a mazda GTX in a Ford Laser shell.
I just thought i would answer some common misconceptions about the GTR motor. There is a of rubbish posted on the internet about these motors and as a result they are being flogged for an inflated value.
Firstly I will cover the differences between the GTX and GTR motor:
As many of you have said the turbo is different - VJ23 on the GTR and VJ20 on the GTX.
The injectors are different - high flowing units on the GTR.
The Valves on the GTR are sodium filled to help dissapate heat.
The exhaust manifold is a better engineered design.
The rods are rated ro 600hp.
The Pistons are squeeze cast (not forged) and sligtly stronger than the stock GTX ones.
That is where the differences end. The block is not web stiffened as has been reported. The cam durations are identical and all other components of the engine is IDENTICAL.
If you get a stock GTX motor, replace the rods from the B6T motor which are rated to 600HP, drop in some decent forged pistons and utilise a decent size turbo running through a good front mount cooler you will have an engine that is just as reliable and producing far more power than a GTR unit. The only thing you will lack is sodium filled exhaust valves... whoopdy do.
