GTx swap requirements?
anybody know everything that needs to be replaced in a protege to make it compatible with a GTX engine and the total cost? This includes the exhaust, intake, ECU, any pumps, wiring, transmission, etc? Id like to make a swap but dont want to purchase a new engine and not have any of the prerequisite parts.

The GTX motor will swap into your car as far as bolting into the engine bay. You will probably need a new exhaust after the swap due to the fact that the downpipe will most likely not bolt up to the cat. It is advisable to get a cat back done anyway with a turbo setup. As far as the transmission, I'd go for the LX tranny to help hold the power. I'd advise getting a aftermarket clutch. You will eventually burn out the stock one due ot the boost pressure so you may as well replace it while the engine is out of the car. Reguarding the intake, most likely the engine won't come with the intake piping so you will need to get custom intercooler pipes made. I don't know about a DX harness, but I know the LX harness can be modified to work with a GTX ecu and motor. As far as your options on the ecu, you could use a LX ecu with a piggy back like a Apexi S-AFC, a GTX ecu, or a stand alone like the Haltech. Another thing you will need is a high flow fuel pump from a company called Walbro. They make racing fuel pumps that go in the factory location on the car.
