Hbox

How necessary is the HBOX? And what exactly is its function? Is it safe to remove the HBOX? And will the engine properly vent when it's removed?

The reason I'm asking this is because my new conic intake filter just barely fits. In fact, if i want to get my intake filter out, i'd have to disconnect tube from the HBOX to the injection, the smaller tube from the engine to the HBOX, that little thing that connects to the top of the crankcase, and the VAF. I figure, without the HBOX, i'd make more room. Any input on this matter? Or maybe suggestions with making more room? The coolant reservoir isnt in the way. Plus, any suggestions on supporting the intake? What I mean by this is the VAF is heavy, and it no longer rests on the stock air box. All the weight is now on my cone that is resting on the car structure the stock air box use to be bolted onto. So, Im a little worried about this. I know this is long, and I appologize. Thnx.
