idle is weird

I've been having this problem with my car lately. Sometimes the RPM's will go down to like 500, and this weird clicking noise starts to come from the passengerside underdash. Here's the crazy thing, if i turn my parking lights on, the RPM's go up but its not totally perfect. I have no idea what the problem is. Anyone got any ideas?

First check spark plugs / wires. Also inspect the intake hose for any cracks or holes.

When does this happen ?? After hard runs on the highway ? Cold morning starts ??

Do a search on for extensive amount of info on this as its been discussed numerous times before. Many people have had idle problems.

does it sound like it's inside the car or outside? that clicking noise... could just be a lose panel inside your car or something. when my subs hit real hard, EVERYTHING rattles, even the dash, the faceplate to my head unit, my rearview mirror, my dash itself...etc. you have an idle problem and if you haven't fucked with your timing any, you could either have one of two problems, 1) your spark plugs or wires could will need replacing due to misfiring or 2) you have an air leak in your intake hose (hose going between your VAF/Resonator to your throttle body) .. easy way is to make sure that your spark plug wires are in all the way, and if it sticks out any, you need to go either get new spark plugs or just tighten your spark plugs in deeper. if that doesn't help, listen around your air intake hose for any leaks. to tell you the truth, you could end up replacing various different things if you have a bad idle, but basically you need to find out if you have a miss fire or a leak in your intake. this is based on my experience, so take it as you will.
peace

Relays.

The ecu is down there in the center of the car on your passengers left. Also, there are relays on the opposite side of the fire wall on the left side of the passenger area.
