Kartboy Short Shifter

Just installed a Kartboy short shifter (and new foglights) today. Man what a difference. With the lower MX3 seats, it's very nice. About 4-4.5" total throw (1st > 2nd). It does sit mighty close to my cat now, but it doesn't touch.

I also threw on my new silver shifter boot. It was a holy biyatch to get it on, took me and my dad like 20mins, the bottom of it was like the exact same size as the base, so it would pull one corner off, when you tried the other and so and so on...

Bottom, line, it's very nice and a 20 mins install (minus my wrestling match with the boot) It's made for the 3rd gen, but fits ours just fine, it's also the cheapest, i think even cheaper than the Pacesetter.

I'll take some pics tomorrow and post up.

I look forward to seeing the pictures! One thing I don't like about the 1st gen is the length of the throw. It feels like I'd be a world class olympic rower in now time! 20 minutes is pretty quick for a short throw shifter install as well. Does the Protege use a cord-type shifter setup?

here's the shifter boot up close. Simulated silver carbon fiber.

Looks really good!! I'm definitely in the market to buy a SS. Do you recommend this shifter over any others that may be more expensive but are better? Or is this a good one to get? When buying your shift boot, how did you know how big of one you had to get?

I aquired the shifter from a friend, but IIRC, their website says $90. The quality looked real good, never had any others in hand to compare to, but it looked good. Pretty much the same quality as the stock one...

The shift boot i got off ebay, it's just a universal one. It fit the base, but JUST bearly.
