Exclamation New Racing project

BLT is now in the process of stripping the old Turboge and turning it into a somewhat "legal" racecar. The carpet is out, the lower half of the dash is out, seats, rear panels, everything in the trunk, a/c is gone, heater and core are leaving, even the engine is out..

We will eventually attempt to remove all of the "sound deadening" stuff stuck to the floor and finish off the interior. It sits only now with 2 front seats and 5 point racing harnesses. There is also a 3" exhaust already affixed with a single muffler.

Suspension consists of H&R mx-3 springs, tokico blues, CS Front and rear upper strut bars, CS lower front bar, OTL Motorsports (darryl) lower rear bar, and soon ST Rear Sway bar.

The car weighed in at 2450 stock with full trim and interior. We're hoping to ditch about 250-300 pounds on it if possible, all parts of the interior are for sale, it is the LX Blue interior.

The engine will be replaced with some kind of N/A form, either Jspec N/A or US Spec N/A, possibly rebuilt with some forged internals if I can swing it. We expect numbers near the stock HP/TQ readings, possibly higher due to the less weight.

Does anyone know if its ok to cut the factory rear panel off where the speakers sit? Will this hurt chassis rigity or support? We hope to have the car out on Willow Springs or the streets sometime this year for a fun run. Probably take it to the drag strip as well.

If there is anyone in the Socal area who wants to help tear this thing apart some let me know, I'm always open for some help on projects.

The cost of putting another turbo motor in there combined with the stress of racing wasn't really a feasable option. With less weight and the stock motor possibly running a link standalone ecu, we could extract all the top end out and do some good tuning to maintain "endurance situations".

It would be around 140-150hp with a good amount of torque, won't have big cooling issues and will feel like you're going to die everytime you drive it =)

A built up SOHC would be a fun drive, but not what we're looking for. The fun comes in driving the car to its limits, and creating those limits in your own hands.

absolute ******* poetry!

there's way too much fun driving at the limits, even at 50-60mph in a parking lot ....once you experience true 10 tenths driving, you enter a new realm and the car, no matter the power or set up, becomes a whole new experience. It really comes to life and teaches you about control.

Then the addiction sets in and takes over, it never leaves you, it becomes one with your soul and you are forever at it's mercy.

muhwaahahahaha I love this chit
