Power Lag at take off

Hey I'm not sure what section this fits in so Pseudo or Gro, move this if appropriate.

I recently switched filters from a complete open-element cone filter to a heat-shiedled cone filter and I'm noticing a lag in power at take off. When at the light, I normally take off at 2.25k RPM or so, chirping the tires a little and the power is usually consistant untill about 4.25 rpm, where I gain in power is noticed. Since switching filters, I've noticed that after chirping the tires, the car seems to lose power for a bit , causing me to have to clutch-kick it in once order to keep up the power.

My question is, do you agree that this is because of the loss of air flow due to switching filters? Or is there another problem we should address?

This is a temp filter untill we get the new one, open element with a seperately attached heat shield rather than one built in.
