Removing Driver-Side Axel

Hi guys, I'm trying to remove my axel to drop the transmission out so I can replace my clutch. I'm having trouble getting the 32mm lock nut off the hub so that I can remove the axel. How do you get it off? I've tried a torque wrench and a breaker bar, and WD-40....I've tried everything. Please help!

Well the whole Idea of taking out the Tranny myself was to save the labor costs of having a mechanic do it :-) We bought a pretty good pneumatic wrench today and it still wouldn't come off...I wonder how they got it off when they took them off less than 3 months ago?

you dont have a regulator in the air line do ya. that would make your inpack. also you have checked the nut it self right. like where they notch it to the axle. hmmm..... have you sprayed some lube on it. aka (pather ****). Good luck man. i was doing this just a month and half ago.

We knocked the notch out with a screwdriver and a hammer, still no luck :-( We're gonna get a 4-foot breaker bar as suggested and try that. We tried an impact wrench, but I don't think it's 500lb so I might have to spend 30493093904 on that.

I wish I had my BPT now though, it would be a lot easier to do this when I'm swapping the engine anyways. Too bad I need the car to get to work, otherwise I'd just wait and save.

BTW, I'm getting the pacesetter cat back...we had to saw my old exhaust off because it was rusted so much at the bolts and needed to come off to put the jack on the engine to support it. So I guess I might as well upgrade that while I'm at it.

On the bright side, all of my parts are getting cleaned while I'm doing this!

ah **** dude. you should have told me. i could have given you a good idea on how to hold that engine up without anthing under it.
you take three 2x4's about 1ft long peice of ready rod. and bend a hook in one end.
1. place one over the rear cal
2. Then one over the front
3. Place the third crossing the engine with the ends laying on top of the other 2x4's
Like a big H turned sideways. now the board laying across should have a hold in the middle with your rod threw. and the hook facing down. then put a washer and a nut on top. now hook that rod into the loop at the right hand side of the engine. and use the nut to lower or rise the engine.

i dunno that make sence to you guys or not.

WE STILL CAN'T GET THE NUT OFF!!!!!! I've soaked it in wd40 and got a 2 foot breaker bar and slid a 4 foot steel pipe over it to make a 4 foot breaker bar.

We video taped me doing it...I weight about 130 and I'm litterally standing on the end of the breaker bar, jumping up and down. When my friend is done digitizing it, I'll upload the video for you. This is ridiculous!

I got it!

I got it off! I took the impact wrench to it for 10 minutes straight (only stopping to let the air pressure build again). then, I took the 4 foot breaker bar to it for about 5 minutes and finally *CRACK* * CRACK* *BANG* ::turn::
