stalls when turning right

No, really.

Got a 1990 Protege, 222k. Looks a little rough, but she's still running.
Also bought a 2002 Protege, 54k. Hardly broken in.

Anyway, I'm thinking I've got alot of water in the gas tank.

She runs fine in a straight line and turning left, but sputters or stalls when turning right. Re-starts quickly
I've drained a bit out of the gas tank, but maybe I need to completely drain it.
The gas pipe vent is pretty much gone. The gas tank is a year old.
And also rpm's uneven at a stoplight.

Is there another explanation?

The turning right thing is a normal problem(though I haven't experienced more than a slight power loss turning right) which occurs when the gas in the tank sloshes away from the fuel pump, which starves it. Basically it's like running out of gas, except you have gas, it's just not in the right place. I believe there was a way to fix this, look on ClubProtege.com in the How-to section and you might find something.

The up and down idle is caused by a vaccuum leak in most cases. Mine does it every once in a while, but that's also due to me using a RX-7 airflow meter, which I had to tune to get it to work on the Protege(but it's good for like 8whp or more on the BP) and sometimes the flapper door in the AFM will open and close at improper times during the idle(like it sways back and forth when it should stand still) and create micro-seconds of rich and lean conditions.

Hallejah for you!
Your post led me to the ClubProtege web-site. From there it led to the Ford Escort Owners Association web-site. AND once there, I found a pictoral example of how to get to the problem. I can't thank you enough.
