transmission fluid
What kind do you guys use? When I drained my manual, it had ATF in it. The books says to use 75w-90 gear oil however. My autoparts store only had 80w-90, so that's what I put in. It does shift easier, but I was wondering what everyone else runs. Since some people always have a secret or two.

My second gear synchro is grinding an awful lot lately. 10k ago It would only grind if I tried to shift to quickly. Now it grinds even when I try and baby it. What are the synchro's made out of in these cars?
I need to get some Redline or Royal Purple soon... and hope the grinding is minimized... or I'll have to swap transmissions.

When i changed my axle, i put in Valvoline 80w-90 DuraBlend gear oil, as thats the brand of engine oil i use, as with injector cleaner, so i just followed suit.... I have NEVER had any tranny probs due to a failure, i did have to swap my tranny once, when i was traveling through Michigan and decided to get the tranny fluid changed when i was in for an oil change, well i have NEVER done that again, because the shop only put in like 2.8-3qts and by the time i was in Kansas, the tranny seized in 3rd gear, but thats a whole other nightmare story. Since then, i've had a 91 tranny and NEVER EVER had a problem, aside from the jiffy lube blunder, the G5MR (and also G25MR) tranny has been bullet proof, and i've owned the car since damn near new.

Today I went and bought some Redline MTL. Expensive **** up here in Canadia ($14/qrt) but its WELL worth it! The car shifts nicely into second now (not perfect though... but with 260000km's on it, its excellent) and it happened almost instantly! I wonder if their engine oil makes this much of a difference?
