Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the board, but starting to love these Mazda's. I just finsh my first project, which was a turbo Corolla, very sucessful, ran some low 14's with an auto tranny!
Anyway, I drove a few 88 323 GTX and 4dr's, loved them to death, but the rust on these cars in Canada are horrible, so...
I 'm buying a 1990-1994 323 Hatch and going to swap in the B6T out of the 88 year. For the first year, my budget will on permit a FMU for the management on boost, then moving to something full managment in the following year.
Wondering if anyone has done this, what type of boost can these engine handle, problems with the swap???

Welcome Sam, nice to have you aboard.
while i really never read up much on the B6T, i'm pretty sure the stock boost is around 5-7psi. So i guess around 10-12psi may work great with all the particulars to control fuel and what not. Stock BP 1.8L N/A engines that have had the turbo and other parts added from the GTX runs 12psi easily. Which equals to about 225hp.
the B6T as it comes is quite conservative at only 130hp. With only a few tweeks 150-160hp is easily obtainable, or so i've been told. Still a solid engine and yes, a much easier swap than the BPT.
But hey as the saying goes, speed costs money....how fast do you want to go?

Thanks for all the info guys! Nice to see a friendly board these days. I'll keep it in mind once I start running the big boost, I starting to look for this engine now, I did some reading on the BPT, yes, it kicks azz, but like everyone on here said, too much trouble to swap.
I'm on the hunt for a B6T, I'll keep ya posted on how she goes!

I used to go there quite a bit, but it's not nearly as active as this board. They might have some good B6T info there.

thats our local Ottawa community board for street racing and performance talk. We have a smack section which ain't for the faint at heart. Some stuff even evloves to fights on the street. It quite funny!

Me too !!!
I am also working on my 1994 323 hatch !! Instead of swapping the whole engine, I am just adding to the B6. So far, I've had the head ported, polished and a multi-angle valve job, MSD SCI ignition with a Blaster2 and MSD 8.5 wires, IHI RHB5 turbo, RX7 Turbo II Intercooler, unorthodox crank pulley, and a few other goodies... I am thinking about my pistons ... if I run 10-12psi will I need to swap my pistons ??

Thanks for the input turboge... I found a shop that will sell the GT-X pistons for little over $40 each ... However, I've not researched on the rods yet... I talked with one of the guys at Cork and they tell me the GT-X pistons should hold 15psi comfortably. He tells me he's seen them running as much as 18psi !!
Considering that the B6 block is basically the same GT-X block I don't think I need to upgrade more than pistons/rods.... Is there anything else I should be aware of ??

speaking of the B6T,I was thinking of acquiring a Mercury Capri XR2....I drove one before and it was a fun car ,but I knew much less about cars at the time....what do you guys think?? good car??? what tranny is it running????
