wierd clicking sound and oil light

When I start up my engine it's not so quiet anymore. It's making a clicking sound and it sounds like it's coming from one of the belt pulleys. Any ideas?

Also, my oil light flashes when I start the engine cold. Then it stops flickering when the temp starts to heat up. What could be wrong?

Re: engine noise

Start by checking your oil level. If the level is low you may experience your temporary low pressure situation.
The noise may be related to a low oil level as well. There is a possibility the noise is from a Hydraulic Lash Adjuster (HLA) the HLA's keep your valves in adjustment so the valves do not need to be periodically adjusted manually, HLA's run off the oil (in a round about way) - low oil level HLA's let you know.

I had the same problem awhile back.. It turned out to be my Water Pump... It started leaking a week or so after the noise started...

Check it out...

clicking

I topped off the oil yesterday and now everything's running smooth again. .Anybody know why I lost so much oil in 4months and about 6500km? I know my distributor O-ring is leaking a little, but there are barely signs of spilt oil. I just had an oil change in april when I got my timing belt replaced as well as the cam and crank seals and the valve cover gasket. There are no wet spots on the parkade floor either. Is this normal? I had to top off 1.5 liters yesterday.

I had a sorta same problem, when i first bought my car - I could smell something burning (first car purchase and didnt know squat about anything - still dont though.. lol)

Turned out it needed a new valve cover / seal? I change my oil every 2000 miles ( i recycle it though or use it to kill weeds)
So it couldnt be from prolong use?

after 3 oil changes, my oil was gettin low? I never heard the clicking noise - or my oil light wasnt on - i lost 2 qts of oil.
Oh yea, u guys ever use engine flush? I use it everytime but i dont notice a diffrence? I never notice any oil leak though
