Cool RX-7 Brakes on 1st Gen

Hello,

I have a friend who've successfully used a RX-7 caliper w/ Honda Oddessy rotors on his Ford Telstar. I have the picture but don't know how to load it up on the page. Please teach me.

I am personally driving a J-spec 1st gen 323. Over here, we call it Familia. Oh a 1.8T

I'm in the process of upgrading my stock calipers to the exact same setup as my fren's setup. I've just had the calipers painted RED. Same color as Brembo's calipers. I will be taking pix before and after. Please teach me to load it up onto the page.

Thanks.

BTW, please also teach me the signature thingy so that I can put a pix of my ride like some other.

Welcome aboard. The signiture can be found if you go under your user profile and go to edit profile. Fill out all the information and under signiture put whatever you want about yourself, car, etc. As for your pictures uploading, you have to have them on a site and create a hyperlink to that site. My suggestion is to start designing a webpage at www.cardomain.com. It is a good set up that they have there. Again welcome.

Avatar & signature pix

Patrick,

I'm not that good with the website creation and frankly speaking, am an illiterate in the web page design.

I tried to change avatar in my profile but they said I must have at least 5 posts so that I can put cutom avatar. Is that true?

Patrick,

Is there an easier way to put pix of my ride in the signature area than the method you've suggested?

BTW, here's my ride on the avatar but kinda dark. I'll edit and load up better pix from time to time.

I saw that too.

I need details though Thing is, there is several different calipers for the 2nd gen. Also he doesn't mention if they only swap in the front, or the back also. Need the down lo on this. I'd love to do that swap!

From what I can tell, it looks like the 4 piston calipers. I think I might swap the calipers from my 7, but mine has the single piston calipers.

I have an extra set of 4 piston calipers- I just need to know if the backs will fit too, and the specifics on the rotors.

Superdave, I'm using the FC RX-7 4-pot or 4-piston calipers, Metal Master brake pads, and custom slotted Honda Odyssey rotors at the front. Rear is the same disc brake.
It would be interesting to use the FC rear calipers on my Protege. Hmmmm.......maybe one of you guys would embark on this special project. So far there is only 2 guys (including me) in Malaysia using FC caliper on the 1st gen. My swap looks better w/o scratches against the inner spokes of the rim as compared to my friend's setup. He had to trim the inner sides of the rim spokes and his caliper had encountered scratches with the rim spokes previously.
The guy doing my swap had to saw off the original arms on the knuckle holding the old caliper. Then fabricate a piece of bracket to bolt the caliper to the knuckle. He said this will make the caliper brake solidly w/o any of the fabricated parts loosening. It's a lot of work and I'd suggest you guys to contact Wilwood cuz the 2001 Pro has a bolt-on kit. You guys can check with Wilwood for 1st gen kit.

2ner, the clearance between my FC caliper and the rim is only a mer 2 to 3mm. It's so close that I'd swear the rim would scratch the caliper.

Cool Check out my site again!

Guys check out my site again on page 6. I have added a picture that spurred my inspiration to swap the FC caliper. Check it out. And uhh, check out Telstar's page too!! He sports the fastest and unrivalled moderately modified BPT powerplant in town. I'm putting up the pix and page for him as he doesn't have a computer and internet access. I'll post up his list of mods in the Mod List page 3.

So FC is the 2nd generation, right?

What year did the 4-pot calipers come from and are they for the turbo or non-turbo rx-7?

Does anyone know if the rears fit? I know B8turbo does'nt know, but has anyone heard of anyone doing it? Or is there another upgrade available for the rear? I need 4 new calipers, so I might as well upgrade.

B8Turbo, did you need to modify anything or did the 4-pot calipers bolt right on? Would the fit the stock Protege rotors?

Oh, and I just realized, I'm probably bringing the thread WAY back from the dead, but hey, rather than start a new thread....

It doesn't matter what year as long as it has 4 pistons in the calipers.

U r right. I don't know if the rears would fit but it would need major modification to do it.

Again, major modification to the front knuckles. This is not a bolt-on project and should be carefully planned out and measured before attempting to do so. An experienced machinist is preferrable. My knuckles were chopped to incorporate the wider caliper. I'm using Honda Odessey rotors. Visit my site. It has the specs.
