Question 92 Protege, Diagnostic Code 25, Any thoughts? Anyone?

My girlfriend has a 92, A/T, 286,000KM.
I was reading through her repair manual to find out how to read the diagnostic codes. With the jumper in place, and the key turned ON, the engine light flashed fault code 25.
Which is the "fuel pressure regulator".
That's when I remembered, that I unplugged the connector for this regulator about a week ago, so I could get a rachet on the alternator........ so I could change the belt!
But... I forgot to plug it back in. Doh!
Which may answer my girlfriends question of why she got such a lousy tank of gas!
I think her tank was about 50km/30miles short.

Anyway,,, My question is.
Neither one of us noticed the engine light come on? Over the entrie week it was off.
Should the engine light have come on for this fault?

Once I connected the harness back onto the pressure regulator, I hopped back into the car and turn the key ON. The Engine & the other idiot lights came on for a second or two, then went out. No codes flashed.
