HELP catback exhaust install?

Alright so all of a sudden i hear this buzzing noise from under my car...oh awesome a leak in the exhaust work! Day later the piping just falls off, and my car isnt a piece of **** so i was like WTF!! I am wondering if i should replace it with 2.25 inch . I have the SOHC model engine with no significant mods to it , just an intake and DTM muffler. Should i run the 2.25 inch piping , will this make muffler sound different? Will I notice any gains??

You won't really notice any gains.
If yu want to do it, then go for it though 2 1/4 might be a bit too big. Try going with 2''

I went with 2 1/2" pipe

and I noticed some gain although not a huge gain and my magnaflow muffler sounds really good...Girlfriend says she hears me coming from a 1/4 mile away or more with no problem... I got a 3 1/2" tip on my muffler...Was gonna go for a 4" but thought that was way too big on a small *** protege....I also bought a new magnaflow catalytic converter and it seemed to help even more cuz my old oem cat was plugged up and the magnaflow has litterally no baffles, you can see right thru it almost!!

You noticed a gain because you went with a new higher flow cat, not from the bigger exhaust

Does that matter?

......gains are gains and are welcomed no matter how they come...Especially in a car like mine where performance lacks and the aftermarket kinda forgot about us! I only said what worked for me when I redid my exhaust and since the cat is part of that I figured I'd mention it....!! I'm not trying to be a smartass either!
