Unhappy 94 Protege Auto Tranny

I own a 94 Protege with auto transmission. The "neutral switch" has gone south and sometimes you must wiggle the shifter before it will start. It seems to be getting worse and I'm afraid it'll get to the point when it won't start at all. My mechanic was dispatched 3 different variations of the part at the local dealer's parts department. He was told there were only 3 variations of the part, but none of them fit my car. They all look similar, but the wiring and connectors are different. The dealer even searched for the part using the VIN and build information to no avail. Has anyone run into this? Any ideas are much welcome.

Best regards,

Ben
