Ok so far on my 1.8lsohc protege i have done (intake adapter with Ractive superflow filter,cat back exhaust,new radiator install,Autolite plug wires,and Autolite plat. spark plugs. Is there any other modsi can do to free up some more power cause much isnt made for a 1.8l sohc (parts wise)????????

And i dont want nitrous or a turbo.

 

Who can do the cam regrind done? how much? what are the benefits?

I do want to advance my ignition but how? Who do I go to?

Finally, what the heck are miata pistons gonna do for my DX? Although I like the idea

 

How do you advance the timing??? do you need any special tools?? and i saw a mod on this board about taking off a vaccum line off the fuel rail and getting more psi 's . Is this worth it???

 

how far should i turn the distributor ?? and do i turn it towards me or away from me

well i loosened the top bolt and the one under it and turned to see how it sounded(with my exhaust) then test drove it and couldnt really notice so i turned it away from me as far as it would go (no pinging ) and i noticed a little jerk from 1st to 2nd. and throttle response is a little better.

 

I get it... u turned it clockwise(adavancing the timing)... okay imma try it tomorrow..... How far did you end up turning it?

can I turn it on while i'm doing it? ( I know sounds dumb but I don't know how i'm supposed to check for pinging)

 

i turned on the car and just messed around with the timing to it sounded good Which it just about all the way for me

What will happen to the engine if i dont use premium fuel cause i filled up halfway today with reg. and put in some octane booster. It fells a little better now. And I thougth that our cars werent suppose to have premium fuel becaus eof the cat. converters???

 

Is it ok to mix premium with reg. gas cause i filled up half way today and from what u guys are tellin me i have to use premium
so is it ok to fill the other half of my tank with premium or should i just wait till im on Empty cause i dont want my engine to blow up LOL

 

I really don't think ur engine is going to blow up if you mix reg w/ premium gas...

by the way u mentioned octane booster.... I use that stuff once in a while but i'm not sure if it really works...... What kind do you use?
