Horn Problems
I woke up this very early this morning to the sound of my phone ringing. It was the campus police, telling me that my car alarm was going off. First of all, I don't HAVE a car alarm, so I was kind of worried. I went outside to check it out, and sure enough, my car was wailing away. It was just one long honk, it wasn't pulsing like an alarm.
I open my door and hit my steering wheel a couple of times, and it stops on the third or fourth hit. It's never done this before, I'm just glad there is NO ONE up here at school anymore, or I'd have some broken windows for sure.
It was really cold this morning, and I haven't had the car since it's been this cold. Do you think it could have had something to do with that? It has to been some sort of problem with my electrical system, but I have no clue where to start. Hopefully it was just a fluke, but I'm not so sure. Anyone else have this problem?
Maybe my car was just lonely???

RE: Horn and the cold
I had this problem with my 94 Pro a few years back. My horn had apparently been goin off for a couple hours in the middle of the night in the parking lot of my apartment complex. Royally pissed off my neighbors. I ended up pullin the fuse which did in fact kill the brake lights. I drove my car to the dealership the next morning cause like you I had no idea what the problem was. There is a contact just under the steering wheel cover that when depressed will sound the horn. This contact had apparently crapped out and it actually only cost 50 bucks or so to fix. I'm certain you may have the same problem. Cannot say for certain that the noise was caused b/c it was cold, but mine did happen when it was starting to get cold.
