Hi, I was wondering the MSD 6AL ingnition that you put to your car; What improve do feel? (power, mpg, torque, etc..) Does this ingnition fits to Pro 91 LX?

yea it will work for your car, mine came with a soft touch rev limiter so i can set my rev limit to any setting i desire, they make one without a rev limiter but i wouldn't suggest that due to overrev damage. i'm setting mine to 6400rpm it seems to have better acceleration, runs smoother and starts better. my only problem is my in dash tach doesnt work, my aftermarket one i got to work so i'm not too worried about it. i should be getting the factory one working soon. but i'm happy with it.

Why did you get an MSD ignition if you don't mind me asking? 6400RPM rev limit? Is this an SOHC? If it's a BP, what's wrong with the stock 7300RPM?

its the sohc engine will be doing bpt swap when i get the money but with a family the bills prevent alot of what i want to do so i'm just doing small things for now. i set the rev limit to 6200 now, will keep ya updated

But why an MSD ignition? What's wrong with the factory ignition system? Modern Japanese ignition systems are awesome, and upgrades are useless. Unless you're misfiring, there's really no need.....

thats not true if you knew what you were saying. first if your misfiring upgrading your ignition won't help, you have to fix whats misfiring maybe bad plugs wires coil distributor cap rotor what ever is making it misfire, upgrading wont fix anything. second upgrading the ignition system to give a hotter and better spark, your car will run smoother burn gas cleaner, run better and actually give you a better exploison in the combustion chamber which in turn gives you more power, also get better gas mileage. third it comes with a soft touch rev limiter, which i can also add a two step to it which will give me consistant launches, and better control of a high rev limit. fourth if i add a turbo i can add a timing retard to control the ignition timing during boost situations. i mean the possibilities are endless with an upgraded ignitions system.

any stock ignition blow fat *****, stock set up is make for stock set ups. the msd ignition set up or any set up allow more firing power to ur plugs creating better response, mpg, hp, and torqe. basicly if u unplug a spark plug wire and plug in a spark plug and look at the spark while the engine is turing over, the stock spark it whiteish, which is ok for stock cuz stock isnt meant for racing, but with an ignition system the spark will be blue which is a much hotter spark which is better all around.

one more think like jedwards242000 said, and ignition system allowes spark to get to ur plugs at all rpms, mainy the high rpms. stock set ups are not made for hi rev racing.

You guys all have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. Stock ignition systems on modern Japanese cars are good. We're not talking about points, or crappy American V8 ignition systems here. Emissions was a consideration, and they didn't **** around and design something that wouldn't give a complete burn. Jedwards, misfiring is the simple process of the air/fuel failing to ignite. It can happen for many reasons, and they all have to do with the ignition system. It can be bad wires, worn rotor, bad coil etc etc, but it always comes down to the spark plug not firing strong enough. So like I said, unless you're misfiring, aftermarket ignition is useless. YOU DO NOT GET MORE POWER from ignition systems. They just prevent you from losing power. Does that make sense? And if your little SOHC cars, making 90hp at the wheels, the last thing you need is aftermarket ignition. Why is it my car runs strong to 7400RPM with COMPLETELY STOCK ignition with absolutely no problems? And I haven't changed a thing. And I have 50% more power than an SOHC. Think about it....

Don't believe all the advertising you hear from MSD et al. If you're making 400hp, and the cylinders are so dense with air/fuel that it's almost liquid, then yes, upgrade your ignition. And btw, a hotter spark is whiter.....

i don't know who taught you how cars work or what it takes to fix a car or anything but its useless to go back and forth with someone who obviously has two problems, onbe they don't know what they are talking about, and two who has too much pride to listen to someones point of view see the logic in it and able to admit they are wrong. i've been a technician at the mercedes dealership, and the local performance shop for a few years now, i listen ask questions and i'm able to admit when i'm wrong . i let everyone including the master techs see what you wrote and they all said your completely full of crap with your little misfiring theory. which i knew all along i just wanted to come back with some back up to maybe help you learn something. but with your ignorance and unwillingness to listen and learn i guess you will never know what you are doing, so when your car starts to misfire go ahead and upgrade your ignition system and continue to misfire and we can all laugh.

have a good one

If you got the information to prove me wrong, the bring it. What you just said means nothing. I don't even have to sit here and tell you what I know, or where I learned it. I just know that aftermarket ignitions are useless unless you're misfiring. Period. If you can prove otherwise, feel free to do so. There's a reason the BPT has the exact same ignition system as any other BP. Because it works.

ok lets use your logic as an example:

first senerio,
i have a misfire due to a bad spark plug wire-- your saying upgrading to an msd ignition will fix this , no i need to address the faulty spark plug wire
second senerio
i have a misfire due to too much fuel entering the cylinder --according to you all i have to do is to upgrade to an msd ignition or another ignition and it will fix it, no i have to see why the computer is sending additional fuel and at which rpms its sending too much
third senerio
i am misfiring due to my ignition coil not producing enough current--what i should upgrade my ignition to fix it , no i need to replace the coil
i can keep going with more examples if you would like

Maybe I should have explained myself better. The stock ignition system is perfectly fine, and yes, it has to be taken care of. When I say the only reason to upgrade to an aftermarket ignition system when you're misfiring, when the reason you're misfiring is because you're making so much power that the stock ignition system(in good condition) can't supply enough spark to ignite massive and dense air/fuel charges.

My point is that you are not making 400hp, and the stock ignition system is perfectly fine. You are not misfiring the way an 800whp Supra would. You do not need the extra spark. As long there's enough spark to ignite the air/fuel mixture, then that's enough. Having a larger or longer spark WILL NOT give you better or complete burn, so long as the burn has already started.
