It's a pretty commun swap into the Protege, 323, MX3, Escort GT and Tracer LTS.

The Probe GT's V6 is the same 2.5L V6 as the MX6 and 626. The Probe is based on the MX6 chassis and the GT shares the KL series V6 engines. Just like the Escorts share the same BG chassis as our 1st gens and the GT shares the same BP DOHC engine.

It's more than just an engine swap though, while it's still a G-series tranny, the bell housing is different, so you need the tranny too, as with axles and spindles, lower sub frame mount and possibly the struts, but i think the spindle mounts are the same.

i just picked up a Eunos 800 manifold and a ZE bottom-end. Once i find some millenia heads/ZE heads and send my cams out to be reground, my car should be rocking.

i also have a set of 205/50/15 Azenis sitting in my room, and the Mazdaspeed LSD should be here next week.

I'm still deciding on what 15-inch wheels to go with, i'm partial to the Team Dynamics Pro Race1.

My car will be going through some changes in the next few months.

well, my buddy is doing the swap lol. It should be in by the end of the summer hopefully. I would do the swap myself, but I figured it'd be pretty tough to find an mx3 GS parts car. A-spec seems to be better for the budget.

i don't know how i'd fit 7.5-inch wide rims in there, i've had some fender issues with the 7-inch wide rims i have in there now. I'd love Volks or the new Enkei RP-F1s, but its big investment into the car. ( i have some other projects in mind; FE3 powered B2200 or the ultimate in performance, a ported 12A in a Lotus Seven)

the Yokohama A520s don't hook up too badly, i got pretty much 2.2-2.3 60-fts at the track. There is always room for improvement though.

i can't wait to start putting together the new motor. I've been considering bigger valves with the 272 duration cams, the VR6s seem to make big gains with those mods. Its a shame nobody with a KL has experimented with the valves. The way people talk about the motor, 200whp should be attainable, but only 2 or 3 have approached these numbers. Except for the Mirko 626 which was making 250hp.

i've thought about ITBs too and even triple carb setups. The only other final drive that i know of is from Tri-Point and its a 4.88 and that was like $1500USD. If everyone with KLs wants better cams, in my opinion they should go through Web-Cam and have them hardwelded. Its gotta be better than regrinds.

That Stylus looks even better than a Seven and everyone should know how much potential a 3SGE motor has. I've been reading over Ron Champion's book all winter. It would be something having a ported rotary's exhaust exiting about half a foot from where you are sitting. All the noise and flames. At least to me that sounds like heaven and motorsport in its purist form.

I love reading Evo or CAR because they always test Sevens, both car and bike powered, and not too many road going cars can hang with them. I believe a Fireblade-powered Caterham beat the Honda Fireblade around a road course. They are only a few ticks behind the Radical cars.

Back to the KL, i could only imagine how good one would sound at 9000rpm with either carbs or ITBs. Those motors are the closest sounding things to Ferrari engines in my opinion at 6500rpm.
