need to make an 88 323 invincible

so I just bought an 88 323 for a long distance road rally

I need to make this thing basicaly bullet proof
it needs to go for 500+ miles non stop
I'm grafting in a 33 galon gas tank from a 89 Bronco to get the distance
underneth I'm putting in a full skid plate front to back
oil cooler to keep the temp down

since I'm on a budget, a very cheap one, what can I do to this thing to get some more power out of it?
I also need to raise this thing up, there is a possibility that we migh *accidentidaly* drive through some corn fields/jumping this thing

any and all info is helpfull!!!

oh here is the link to the rally http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72966

pull out the interior. Gut the car, keep the weight down and you'll improve acceleration braking steering response etc.

I'm thinking side pipes are in order

If I get any good shots of this thing flying through the air, it will be posted

Sounds like monster garage, Why so bullet proof? How about just a tune up with new belts and alt
