R12 or R134?? '94DX
What's up ppl?
I got a '94 DX SOHC, In '94 most cars switched over to R134A Coolant for the A/C, but nowhere on my car, in my owners book, or the shop manual can I find where it say's if it is R12, or R134A, I even looked all over the engine, AC pump, etc... anyone had this problem before??
Well let me know,
Thanks

No sir...I have a 94 DX and had to recharge my system last spring...good ol R12...I had to go to the dealer to have it recharged...they actually had the cheapest price in town. You can change your A/C to the R134 via a kit, but it costs just as much as charging your system with R12.

its not just as simple as switching either.....you will have to change out the oil in the comperssor, the o-rings...and the dryer as well.....unless the mazda A/C system is different in some way than every other system I have ever seen.....
the conversion is not that hard......and seeing as how R-12 is going the way of the Doo Doo bird....well you might as well bite the bullet sooner or later.

I paid 150.00 to have my system checked and recharged at the dealer. I have a few buddies that manage the local parts counter at my Mazda dealership, so I got a good deal. Some Service stations qouted 200+ for the R12 recharge or the r134 conversion. Shop around since the price varied everywhere I checked.
