Question steering wheel out of alignment.

I'm also interested in pulling the steering wheel on my wife's 93' protoge and rotating it about 1/2 turn. Someone has had it off before we bought the car, and didn't put the thing back on in the correct position. I'm just wondering how simple it would be to take it off...any advice?

Thanks,
Nathan

air bags?? i have a '94 and i don't have air bags (unless i'm completely ignorant and don't know about them), so i doubt they would be on a '93. my steering wheel was way off a few months ago, but the problem was solved with an alignment.

Unhappy air bags??

well, our 93' doesen't appear to have air bags at all. and as for as the alignment, the car doesen't pull in either direction when driving at high or low speeds. the steering wheel is literally 1/2 turn off to the left, and i could be wrong but it seems as though i should be able to just pull the thing off and realign it...maybe??

thanks for the replies,
nathan

i'm assuming that richard was talking about newer proteges because my pro doesn't have air bags either. my steering wheel is off about 1/4 turn (to the right) right now but it doesn't pull either. i would still assume it needs an alignment though (i know mine does because i replaced all 4 struts). i'm not a mechanic but it seems reasonable to assume that the car isn't pulling because the angle of the steering wheel is compensating for it. if you turned the steering wheel straight, you car wouldn't go straight (it would go either left or right - to the right in your case since you would have to turn the wheel to right to get it straight), therefore, if you got it lined up correctly (aligned) it would go back to normal. although that's just an assumption.

makes sense.

that all seem to make sense. thanks for your interest in the topic.

now i have something totally unrelated to ask you about tito. i have a friend who just moved to san diego and is really loving it there. i'm wondering if you're a native or not and what you thing of living there. my wife and i are curious and are thinking about a visit and possible relocation at some point. i'm a professional musician and would be interested to know what the music scene is like there as well. if you get the time to write back you can reach me at my personal e-mail: nathan_rowe@hotmail.com, if not no big deal.

thanks again for the feedback on the car,
nathan
