Valves say: "F* YOU!"

Its time for a valve job. I gave it one small $5 shot of some crappy gas and now...it hates me. Alot of my money is tied up in "Project: GIFT FROM SATAN" AKA "Project: TurboII FC" and I dont wanna spend alot...so I ask:

1)How much does a valve job on a sohc usually run?

2)How hard would it be to do myself?

Any help would be...well...helpfull...yeah...Thanks!

Certain oil companies put lots of crap in their gas. (Esso, I'm loking in your direction). I don't think 5 dollars worth of Kerosene would cause an engine to need a valve job immediately.

A valve job, a rough guestimate I would say 300 bucks tops. But then you've still got to buy new gaskets etc......... and then labour if you don't Remove and re-instal the head yourself.
I doubt you could do the valve job yourself. The equipment to do a valve job isn't something you can pick up for a hundred bucks. Its several thousand bucks. And I doubt you'd be doing enough valve jobs to make that worth your while
