1996 Protege
I wanted to geta new exhaust for my 1996 Mazda Protege. I wanted a high flow cat, but im not sure if they make those for the 96' protege. Do you guys have any suggegestions or what i should get if im not able to get a high flow cat for the protege.... What other types of exhausts are good for the 1996 protege, and does it add a decent amount of hp to the car???? ?

See, there is no specific brand or type of exhaust made for our cars. But exhaust is something not very complicated and can be done with any universal parts. All you need is a universal high-flow cat, and an exhaust shop can bend you pipes for what ever diameter you might need, just make sure it the same diameter as the high flow cat. And then get any muffler you like and put it all together. Good luck.

All together you might get up to 20bhp with 2" piping, high-flow cat and muffler. The cat will got you about 200-250, the muffler 50-100, and pipining no more then 100, and then you got to choose whether to install on your own (if you know how to weld stainless steel), or have a shop do it for about 200. But those are just rough estimates.

I dont think youd see 20 bhp with a cat back alone. And at the price your saying, that would be CRUSH bent piping wich will net you no hp gain.
To get those kind of gains, you would need the high-flow cat (ex, Magnaflow) and some piping (prolly around 2.5") that has had MANDREL bends (very expensive and hard to find). If you want HP gains, dont buy a cheap muffler (ie, Ractive or any from Pep Boys). Get somthing good like Brullen or Magnaflow (Not HKS, they tend to rot out). A proper cat-back system will prolly cost you around $850 CDN and MAYBE, you mite see a hp gain of about 10 bhp....
