A question to all you guys with intake on you 2nd gen,
So I finally decide to scope out putting my ractive intake on and I have a question. What do ya do with the airflow sensor plug and the pointy plug that plugs into the back of the air box? I tried just disconnecting them and running my car but it seemed to be dumping too much fuel in because I smelled gas and it seemed to hesitate a bit. Also it made my check engine light come on. So what do I do?

You have to plug up the tube that is open. (the one right under the pipe) Just plug it up with paper towel or something and then tape it off with electrical tape or something. And as for the airflow sensor, just disconnect your battery and it should reset its "memory" which will turn off the check engine light. The open tube is what is making it idle like crap and burn really lean, and the airflow sensor is what is making the check engine light come on. I hope that helps

There are no open pipes because I never even installed the intake, all I did was unplug the airflow sensor and pointy shaped probe thingy that plugs into the back of the factory airbox. Both of these come out of the same wire harness. However the ractive intake has nipples to hook up the hose that goes to the side of the valve cover and the other which goes down to I can't see where.

Yes, but you will see when you actually do install the intake that there is another hose that will have nowhere to go. You MUST plug that hose up. And like I said, you will be able to plug up one of the sensors and the other one will just have to dangle around. (unless you cut a hole in your filter to place it in there) After yo do that just unplug your battery and it will make the check engine light go away.
Trust me on this, I have already done it. (look at my sig)

Ok, I think we are missing each other here. If I just unplugged the airflow sensor and the pointy probe and not the hose you are speaking of, then why would it run crappy if the unplugged hose is the cause like you said in your first reply? Is it because the hose in question and the airflow sensors are related? How will I know which one is the one I am to plug?
The pointy thingy I am talking about is just wires no hose with a ponty probe like thing on the end and the other is just a molex plug. The only hoses I see are the one that goes into the valve cover and the one that goes down. I am not calling you a liar I am just trying to make sure I understand you right. Thank you for the help.

Ok, let me try to explain this better. Lets start with the 2 plugs... One of the plugs into the actual airbox, and the other one plugs into the sensor thing (mind blank on the name). When you put the Ractive intake on, the plug that was originally in the actual airbox will not have a place to go.
Now, for the extra hose.... when you take off the factory pipe, you will have to remove the hose from the valve cover and the and another from the side.... You will find out that when you pull of the stock pipe, another hose under it will be exposed. This hose is the one that will need plugging.
I hope that clearified some stuff... It would be easier to explain if i had a picture.

So do I keep the "sensor thing" ( I believe it is the MAS sensor) and just put it on the end of the ractive intake and then put the filter on the end of it?

which intakes do you have? I saw the one brucefamlia put on his and i'm going to try and order that one but what ones did you use or get just incase there is another one i can look at. the one i found is by ractive, part number: Toucan SF M9396A

Ok, the little pointy sensor thing as you called it is actually the Air Intake Temperature Sensor. On my '97 1.5L i found a neat little spot to stick it into.. There is a small tube coming from the front of the car that connects to the battery "cover" which allows cool air around the battery, i don't know the reason for this. But i pulled the hose down at the connection, stuck the Sensor in and closed it back up....
