0-60 in how many seconds?

I'd like to know how many seconds it takes for a stock 1996 mazda protege lx goes from 0-60.

Too many. Honestly, its in about 10-12 sec range. 1996 ES (1.8L) tested by Road&Track did 0-60 in 9.1 sec. So you can decide from here.

If you have an automatic, you're looking at closer to 12 seconds...

1.6 engine, DOHC no modifications..1-100 for about 12 sec, it all depends on how you shift the gear, and the condition of the car

Well my wife has a 97lx, the guy that sold it said that it got the 1.8l in it, is that possible, I know its doesnt take 12s to go to 60mph, it really is not that bad for acceleration, I own a mustang gt so if it was 12s I would know hehe.

You're in Canada so yeah if its an LX you should have the 1.8
Easy way to check, aside from looking at the sticker is to just look at the intake manifold. The 1.5l intake manifold looks like a header pipe.
