Unhappy 1.5L (Underpowered)???

I have a 1.5L auto and i heard some ppl say that this engine is very much "underpowered" and doesn't have the acceleration and such.

Anyway, i don't know much about engine, but i think so far my car seems to have enough power comparing to a honda accord or civic (well, maybe not civic).

btw, my family also own an '94 Acura Legend and the acceleration between that car and mine car is not much different, i think.

Hey guys, we have to remember that we have an economy car, which was build with out any intent for performance. I have 1.5 engine as well, and I like it. I will soon replace my exhaust, and that should give me some whoomph, but not much.

if u compare it to a v8 or a v6 its underpowered sure...but i dont mind it...i did a lot of appearance mods and im very happy with the car...if ya want a power car you prolly have the wrong car...i have cold air and full cat-back exhaust(im automatic too) and it made it a little more peppy especially on cool days but just do maybe exhaust and intake and just have fun...dont worry about speed...it kills ;-)

thats very true. i was a little sceptical too about getting the 1.5 but i actually love it. its got some surprising pep and it is one the best if not the best handleing economy cars out there. try to take turns with a tercel, sentra, or civic; you'll see what i mean.

automatic stinks... but the 1.5 is pretty nice. it's responcive, smooth, pretty torquy, and it revs nice. if i wanted more inline accel, i'd get a motorcycle... oh yeah, i already got two!

try to get a standard shift... you'll thank me later.

I reckon 1.5L is quite good for a economy car, and the power is VERY enough. It can kill some cars. Well...of coz not v8s or v6s.
The handling are good for a 4 doors family car, and i reckon the handling are better than some holdens or ford. (I got automatic too). so i reckon 1.5L are not bad..I love it!
I got custom intake, lowered springs and exhaust.

I'm getting 40mpg and I can cruise at 90mph with no trouble. I won't smoke people at a stoplight, but I'm happy.

I always throught my 96 Protege had decent pick up. Granted, it's not going to win any races but it's just enough to keep my lead foot happy. :-p
