98 1.5L powerband
general bs question: bought car from school teacher as econo gas miser. Rarely see 4000 rpm, only been to 6k twice. Engine really starts to wake up when it hits 4000-4500 rpm. Normal??

Ya ya ya, ease up. Our little 1.5s got spirit...and that's about it. Put on a custom air intake and now you have simulated speed and power.
I say if you can't make speed or can't make it very quickly, then just try to maintain it. A front strut bar did wonders (relatively speaking) for my handling. Do you have any twisty roads where you live?

98 protege rear struts
recently found several nice twisty sections, alittle rough in spots, but have blown rear left strut on 98 protege.
any advice/ leads on good values for replacements?
do I need a strut compressor?
go ahead and replace strut mount?

man that would suck if it proves true. i have 108xxx miles on mine, 38,000 of which i've had say in. plenty of full rpm fun, and the thing still winds well. i'll let ya'll know if mine starts any funny business.
