'98 door locks, broken

I've searched the forum, and was unable to find anything related to this.
About 2 years ago, my '98 ES's driver's side keyhole stopped working. The little plastic "filler" piece was eventually worn down to nothing, and now when you attempt to unlock the door, you can't get the key in, because the plastic piece is broken. The same thing is about to happen to the passenger side. I'd like to be able to get into my car.
Any cheap way to fix this, other than getting reamed by the dealer?

Thanks...

You can check out www.car-part.com .
When you go on there select your state. and the part that you want , just click on door panel. Then go by the place if it is close and just tell them you only want the door lock assembly. Ofcourse then you may have to pull it apart or have key made for it at your local locksmith.

ohh and welcome to the board

I have keyless entry, I've just managed to destroy both remotes, and haven't gotten around to getting new ones.

Thanks though.

You can buy a lock cyl repair kit that is just a cover spring and cover . Remove the lock cyl and take the tumblers out and remove any pieces of plastic and install the new cover and spring .Just make sure the tumblers go back the same spot thay came from.

Yeah, same key can be used

Yeah, like kansei said by doing that u wouldn't have to change the lock cylinder. That's what they did for my old car, it got broken into and they drilled in the key hole, so the locks were rebuilt using the key code. So, anything is possible. Talk to a lock smith.
