98 Protege DX - factory CD + Cassette
Hey all,
Just found this forum and am I ever happy! Finally a place to talk about and ask questions about my Protege.
Anyway, first question. I have a 98DX with factory cassette player.
I've found a factory CD player/cassette combo for sale used.
CD/Radio Model # MDTO30U2X PART NO. GD7C669R0
Cassette Model # MCA001U1-A PART NO. NC15799DU
Am I right to assume that the cassette player would fit under the cd player location in place of the storage shelf?
If so, does anyone have any guidance on what all I need to do to remove the shelf pocket and install the cassette player?
I imagine the CD/radio portion will be easy to do, pul the old one out with a DIN removal tool and slide the new one in.
Thanks!
Joe

I don't know about part numbers, but I have a 98dx with a factory cassette deck...I added a slave CD unit I pulled from a junkyard.
It fit right in the little cubby below the climate controls, plug and play.

Thanks guys!
The one I was looking at sold before I had a chance to snag it, but I'll keep an eye out.
So is taking the pocket out under the climate controls pretty simple? Just unscrew the trim panels on the side and unscrew it and remove from the back? That's what I did with my 88 Colt.
