Broken Trunk Pop

I have a 1998 LX and the trunk pop on the left side of the drivers seat is broken on my car. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else, if they got it fixed, how much it cost, and if getting a keyless entry system installed would fix the problem. Thanks for the info.

A keyless entry system? Maybe. I have a post around here detailing how I installed a remote trunk opener in my '97 LX. I'm not suggesting you should do it, but take a look...

Update:

I decided to do a little handywork myself (not a good idea) and discovered that the wire that pulls the latch open is no longer connected to the latch. The wire is fine from the switch inside all the way to where it should connect. I'm not sure how to reconnect it. It passes through the latch by about a cm. Does anyone have any ideas? The wire is very frayed at the end, mind you. I will have some pictures up tomorrow. I gave up tonight.

Good progress, though.

I had a problem like this it's hard to explain exactly what I used but it was a metal connector that is used for metal wire, you can buy it at most hardware stores.....you use this to take up the slack right after the latching mechanism......they usually sell braided wire in most hardware stores and usually they sell these metal clips that you crimp next to the wire. If you don't use the crimming connectors you can use these really small u-bolts to take up the slack.
