uhmm, you could, but this is more of a hack than a mod, and if you've got a specialized intake on the car, you're probably seeing a better power gain than this would give you anyway. If you have the automatic transmission, it may help you to rev higher, but even that may not be worth the potential damage , especially since your intake is now sucking more air than stock, the rich feul mixture would be even richer in your case.

because I bought a resistor, and I have a BOMZ RACING short ram intake with K&N FILTER....should I add it or not worth it?

again, lets look at what you really want from your car.

with a short ram intake, it would have a larger power gain with the resistors in place. a rich mix isn't always bad.

lets look at air fuel ratios.

14.7:1 is ideal all around. this means 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel. this gives the best balance for emmission controls, milage and power.

13.2:1 is ideal for power. it gives crappy gas milage, filthy emmissions, BUT, it gives great power. Your engine runs cooler though, as richer mixes cause cooler engine temps.

16.3:1 is ideal for gas milage as it leans out the mix, which gives some loss of power, somewhat cleaner emissions (NOx emissions are high though) but runs your engine at a very high temperature.

so yakuzaspeed,

if I got teh short ram intake, should I add the resistor or not?

Is there a way to measure or calculate the a/f ratio?

ducom7, yes, add the resistor, but add it for a temp setting of 60 to 90 degrees. i will look up the resistances and post them within the week.

intruder, just hook up an a/f gauge in your car. you need to hook it into the o2 sensor the is upstream, not down. this will allow you to properly view your a/f ratio. BUT, remember, your a/f ratio constantly changes, the only thing an a/f gauge will help you see is whether you are too lean or too rich.

for the best gains with this type of mod, you need to acctually dyno run the car with some variable resistors hooked up and dial it in to see what gives the best gains. like all power gains, there is a parabolic curve to this power.

Some second Gens have the IAT sensor integrated into the MAF. So it might be a bit more difficult if it is.

not really, no. i have done both setups, tapping into the 4 wire maf with the intigrated iat, and also witht he stand alone iat. it can be done either way, all you have to do is read a wiring diagram!
