Malfunction Indicator
I have a 1996 LX and the malfunction light indicator has been on for a while, but i'm not sure how long. One of my friends said it could be because of my radio wiring. He also said i would have to get my computer reset. Does anyone how know to do this?

What is a malfunction light? Do you mean Check Engine Light? That you can reset my disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery and pressing the brake pedal until there is no pedal travel, you should have to press the pedal more then 5 times. Then reconnect the battery, and see if the problem goes away.

See, there you go. Next time it comes on, stop by the Auto Zone. They can run a free Check Engine Light test for you, and tell you what caused it to turn on in the first place. Its just nice to know, because most times its not serious, but it could be.

Figures. I was all excited and decided not to take it for a test drive. When I did, the light came back on. I really need to change my alternator belt, its been screeching for a while when i turn on the car, would that have anything to do with it? I'm going to have my shop teacher check all the fuses as well and if that doesn't work, take out the radio. The guy at the repair shop that I have a warannty for said its because of the radio, and I think hes full of it. He said take it back to where it was put in, and I put it in and used the original wire harness, no problem. We'll see what happens.

Well, the gas cap didn't cut it. That stupid light is still on. Would the alternator belt have any possible effect on that light? I've probably needed to change mine for a month. If all else fails, autozone will be my next stop.
