Manual Tranny Service?

Hello- for those who have done this...is it just a drain and fill? or do I need a gasket type kit with filter, etc...? thanks..car is a 96 ES.

No filter, no gasket. All they do is pull the plug, drain it and refill it.

Anyone know how many quarts? and do you guys ever use synthetic? thanks

I'm not sure if this is completly correct, but I'm looking at the haynes repair manual and it sais 2.83quarts, but then again I am yet to change the oil, so i'm not sure if that is correct.

honestly , the manual transmission is supposed to be sealed for life , and never need servicing , but I guess you can do it if you really want to , the only trannies , I know that need to be serviced are the automatics

Does the manual tranny take straight gear oil? or just tranny fluid?? thanks

Try Redline MTL 70w80.
I put 3 bottle in it.
It stick faster(faster synchros) and gives smoother shift at normal temp.
