Talking New Protege Driver

Hey guys, today my mother and I went car shopping and we came across a '97 Protege with A/T and 1.8L engine. I'm wondering what we should be looking for in this car before we buy it, and what to expect from it. Any help is appreciated
-Cheers

Well, for one, it has 1.8L, and that is a very good thing. Pending price is not ridiculous, go for it.

Being that your a young guy (Im guessing) if you get the auto in a few months you'll wish you hadn't. It's still a good car but not much power. 5sd runs better. IMO
