Shifter Question

Hey guys I'm sorry if this doesnt apply
to this section but I need a question answered.
If I were to change my shifter handle to one with
just a triggor button on top, what would I have to do about
the overdrive button? Could I even change the handle?

By the way, it's a 96 Pro LX.

Thanks!

I don't know the shifter you want to use but if you take the OEM shifter handle off there is a plastic triangle that pushs down on a rod that passes down the middle of the shifter so as long as the new handle will push against the rod and move it the same distance it should work. As for the O/D button you could mount it next to the shifter by just rerouting the wires from the shifter to the plate and install a switch.

Thanks alot Kansei!
So what I should do is just place the overdrive button
somewhere else and rewire it?
Sounds easy enough.

Thanks again!

Yes just mount anywhere you find convenient. The O/D switch is a simple switch that has to pulse for on and pulse again for off. The wires run down the shifter shaft , around a hook at the bottom and out the rear of the shifter and under the drivers seat.

Hmmm... Picture doesnt seem to work.
Try right-clicking it then properties and go from there.

By the way, in case those of you who dont already know,
it's a pic I took earlier today that's hopefully showing
a good spot to install my new overdrive button.
I'll let yall be the judge of it.
