ticking
im hearing a ticking noise from inside my car while im driving or sitting at idle. the ticking is rapid 2-3 a second, but the speed or loudness does not change with speed or rpm. the only thing that does affect the ticking is the fan for the heat/AC. its ususlly at 1 but when i turn it up it stops for a minute or so and then starts back up. and it also ticks when i turn the fan off so i have no idea what the problem is. any help is greatly appreciated.

If it doesn't change with revs. And it only happens when the A/C is on it's most probably the A/C compressor. It might need lurication or filling up. It also could be starting to die. Make sure it only does it witht the A/C on. When you turn it on listen, then push the button to turn off the compressor (make the fan work alone).

nicksprotege.... what you're probably hearing are the lifters/valves working.. when the engine is cold and you start it up usually it starts doing a ticking sound.. if you accelerate the ticking sound will also. But try listening for the sound you mention after you've moved your car around and check it without the A/C on. Check back later and let us know.

after some investigating, ive found that the ticking is coming from INSIDE the car from the area in or around the glove box. the ticking only happens when the fan is on, and the ticking has nothing to do with the compressor. i dont know what items for the fan are in this area or what i can to to fix the ticking so any help would be greatly appreciated.
