trip odometer keeps resetting
Hi gang!
Glad I found you.
Last week my trip odometer started automatically zeroing itself ever second or third time I shut off the car, then came back. I noticed it first when parked at home overnight, then again a couple of times after shopping. I don't seem to be having any other problems.
I own a 97 DX, 1.5l stock vehicle with 70,000 miles on it. It was my stepson's and he says he had no problems with it. It is very well maintained.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

are you losing radio stations also? It sounds almost like a short in the electrical connections which is very possible. If you feel comfortable removing your gauge cluster you could try disconnecting the connectors, cleaning them with connection solvent and then re-connecting everything again. I say this so that you can verify that everything has a good, solid, clean connection before digging deeper into the elcetrical system.

I have the haynes or Chilton manual for the car so I can probably remove the gauges as suggested, and clean the connections. Thanks. The radio/CD player is not stock but was professionally installed (if Best Buy is considered professionally...lol), but it is working fine and has been for the past 3 years, so hopefully it is not an electrical problem. Again, thanks for the cleaning suggestion. When it stops raining, I'm on it.
