1.6L Intake assistance

Hey guys I got a 2001 DX shitty 1.6L. I was looking into past threads and read that there are some problems with the AEM 1.6L intake is there any other intakes that are available for the 1.6 ?

there isnt an AEM Intake for the 1.6L engine...the only one specifically made for the 1.6L is the Injen intake and from what I understand the probs were fixed if you buy a new one

ok here is what you do...(this is what i did)...cut the tube for your MAF out of the stock airbox, then buy one of those Protege5 intakes off e bay for like $45 bucks...buy a vacuum plug from you local parts store large enough to plug the IAT hole ,hook up the intake, and BAM!! you have an awesome short ram/CAI for cheap!!

The hole where the Intake Air Temp Sensor goes.

Woh! Wait a sec... how do you know if the Injen intake for a 1.6L is old or the new one? I am considering purchasing one, but if there is a major problem I might reconsider my decision.

Does anyone recommend getting an Injen CAI for the 1.6L? If not why?

Thanks!

If your car is an automatic - no, because you will hate the jerking issues that come w/ it. If it's the 5 speed, go for it.

If you do a search on injen and jerking, you'll see what I mean.

Thanks NegatiZE,

I do have a 5 speed manual. I will do a search and read more into it.

if you are looking at my pics you wont see my current intake..it looks way better than that...that old one was just a pop style intake...that costed still about $35 to make...although $25 was for the filter....
