1.6L oil capacity ?

how much oil does the 1.6 L hold

I think its 2.9 Qts. (thats what it says in the manual) Just wanna make sure.

I think the dumbass at my dealer put too much in, when they did the change.

2.9 quarts is right...I usually just use 3 and it works out fine

cool
thanks for the quick reply

I think they overfilled it.

I talked to the guy on the phone and he was all like " yeh I think he put 4 Qts in there or something"

I tiold him it was a 1.6L and that it only used 3 Qts.

and I looked at the Dip and it was waaayy past full.

what negative effects will this have on my car driving it for just tonight ?

can I blow my seals or sumpin ?

well actually couple of things can happen....most important is that the oil wont get to vital parts of your engine properly and cause metal to metal contact....also can cause the oil to "froth" and obviously then it doesnt pump or protect well...other things can happen here...put it this way....fix it now.

I am goin back first thing in the morning.

I dont want to drain any of the oil from there becuase I wanna show it to the service manager so I can chew him out.

what a bunch of dummies. And this is a mazda dealer too.

my dealer over-filled my P5 too. They put 4.5 quarts in when it only requires 3.7 at most. Now I do my own changes, and I put in 3.5-3.7 quarts and it works great, along with a V6 Mobil1 filter. Dealers can be really stupid sometimes. The only thing worse than bad service is being overcharged for bad service, something dealers excel at!

I thought it was 3.2 quarts, including the oil filter. Hmm...
