I've used thermotec wrap for a number of years, with zero problems on my "hot rod" CRX. It does drop ambient engine bay temperatures dramatically. Couple of things though...
1. I have a stainless steel tubular header. I wouldn't wrap a cast manifold unless it was of an alloy that can take the heat AND moisture buildup.
2. The instructions specifically say to stay 1" away from all welding seams. Yes, a little heat would escape but the welding is the weak part of a ss header and the first to give in to rust.

OK I got engaged so it looks like there is going to be nothing else going on this most family of family cars. Turbo? HAH! Supercharger? HAH! She wants a freaking SUV yuppie wagon. Oh BTW.... Shes ungodly sexy... so it's worth it! Woo! 5 years looks like it may have paid off! Or.. did it..
