Sometimes its best to leave the negative cable off the battery for extended time periods like go watch a movie. Dang ECU is so sensitive on 1.6L ATX just by me upgrading my fuel to 87 octane it blew a CEL for rich mixture till I watched a movie, hehe... Funny thing is the dang engine runs better after running that 87, then dropping back to 85 now with a extended ecu turn off... Bet the fun will start with modded intakes & exhausts soon in the future. Autoparts sellers are quick to suggest buying a new MAF or Oxygen sensor too....

dear dafoo21 I was wondering since you got the new MAF sensor and having the same problem I am w/ the rough idle & the car wanting 2 die out... has your "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" come on...??? b/c in mine it turns on 4 sum reason & when I disconnect the negative & connect it back 2 reset everything... I drive it 4 a day or two then the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT still comes back on.. but I've tried it a few times & it only comes on (after disconnecting the negative) during highway driving...??/ I was just wondering if you had the same problem...w/ the light?
