Question 2001 1.6l

Looking for aftermarket parts (e.g. cams, turbos, superchargers) for 2001 1.6L DX. I can only find stuff for the 2.0. Anyone have any ideas.

Lets see...

For starters, there are things for this car, but you have to search A LOT. I found a lot of stuff for the 1.6l by calling places and surfing the net for countless of hours.

First:The Protege FAQ, at the top of the page, has a lot of useful information.
And the "search" is your best friend.

Second: Let me give you a list of a few helpful sites
CorkSport, Nopi E-cat, and Procarparts

Third: Now for some parts
Intakes: Injen and AEM (2 most popular)
Exhaust: I had my exhaust custom made, so I didn't do much looking for this. As far as I know, Bosal, Borla, and MazdaSpeed makes exhaust. Or you can get it custom made like me. (cheaper and your choice of muffler)
Headers: Here's a thread that I posted
Cams: They can be custom made by Tripoint. I personally called them my self and spoke to one of there technicians.
Turbos: I haven't really looked into this, but I heard Flying Miata was making a turbo for the 1.6l. Or you can go Dave's (Biknman) route and custom make one
Supension: All 3rd gen parts are compatible

This is all the stuff that I'm gonna post for now. If you need more, just IM, email me, or just search. Keep in mind, it doesn't hurt to call companies if you're unsure.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about this anymore. I just bought a 1.8l engine from Tripoint.

Damn, now I have to research the FP Oh well...

engine conversion

Hell yeah, tell me how it goes man, because I think that
is some serious work on your car

Is the engine you're installing in better shape than the 1.6L you have in your car now?

Yeh, it only has 6,000 miles on it...it better be. Plus the 1.8l is a big difference from the 1.6l.

I think I bought the engine for nothing, because now I want another car...lol

oh well, we'll see.
