It was rubbing aginst the brake line but i moved it around so it wouldnt but i still get the noise(stupid aem) I tried a search, and came up with the vacum lines or sumthin liek that might be causing it .I think im just gonna go but the stock ture and put a new filter on the end that way i know it will fit and so forth.thanks for the help

I like AEm as a company, but their intakes for the 2.0 L Proteges sucks!!! The fit is terrible!! That's why I bought a used Injen.

I have a AEM intake and I have no noises and just so you know, I did not follow the instruction for the install.

I reversed the direction of the final piping and this has moved the filter farther away from the radiator and works much better.

I personally like this intake very much.

nick,
I'm curious about what you did for the fit? What do you mean by reversing the direction?

I have the AEM and I'm very happy with it. It fits fine for me and I've had it for about a month. No problems, no CELs. The way I have it fit, it is about an inch away from the master cylinder and hardly moves at all when given a good pull with my hand. No vibration noises or at the pedals.

I have installed mine today. The fit was perfect. No noise.

Ans the sound of this intake is just great but I did not notice performance gains comparing to my old home made intake

I finnaly got really annoyed and took it off. I put the stock elbow on and put everything but the air box bac togather.I now have the cone filter right after the maf. Sounds good (dont really care about how fast it makes me)looks almost stock. I like it alot better than the AEM.Oh by the way I got the 5speed one instead of the Auto. I did this before i knew the diffrence.

Thanks for the advice and so forth

Question

After 8 weeks of waiting i finally got my AEM intake and installed it... i *thought* everything was fine... until i was sitting at a light and i felt this really heavy vibration through the brake pedal... when i got home and popped the hood i found a 10mm scratch down the side of my intake right on the first bend. I had about 3mm clearance between the 1st bend and the brake cylinder but apparently that's not enough [I have an auto P5 so i got the 22-480 model instead of the 22-481].

2 main questions:

1) should i take apart the whole damn thing and touch up the paint or is it not important?

2) i've crammed a rubber wedge in between the intake and cylinder to prevent further rubbing... it's in there pretty good and doesn't appear to be shifting though i can feel the vibrations go through it... the vibrations in the rubber won't eat through the paint on the intake will it?

any other ideas on how to deal with this? I've tried readjusting the fitment but i haven't been able to get any more than 3mm of clearance on it...
